Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) Notice

The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (“the Act”) was enacted by the Malaysian Government to regulate the processing of personal data in commercial transactions. Lockton Sime Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to full compliance with the Act and the effective management of the personal data we collect from you.

1. The Use of Your Personal Data

We process your personal data for purposes including, but not limited to:

  • Processing your insurance applications;

  • Providing insurance services and professional brokerage;

  • Understanding your specific insurance needs;

  • Processing payment transactions;

  • Facilitating insurance claims assessment and investigation;

  • Sending promotional messages and special offers (based on your privacy preferences);

  • Security and fraud prevention;

  • Finance and marketing activities;

  • Meeting legal and regulatory requirements; and

  • All other purposes incidental to the above (collectively, “the Purposes”).

2. Collection of Personal Data

Your personal data is collected through various channels, including completed forms, business card exchanges, telephone calls, emails, facsimiles, and information provided by insurance companies.The data collected may include your name, address, contact numbers, NRIC number, age, occupation, marital status, and financial/banking details. We may also collect sensitive personal data (such as physical or mental health information) if you apply for specific products, such as health or life insurance.

3. Obligation to Provide Data

It is obligatory for you to provide the personal data and documents requested. Failure to supply this information may result in our inability to process your data or fulfill the Purposes outlined above.

4. Disclosure of Personal Data

Please be informed that your personal data may be disclosed, disseminated, or transferred to companies within our Group (including holding companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates, both locally and internationally) or to third-party organisations and individuals necessary for fulfilling our obligations to you.

5. Data Integrity and Security

We are committed to ensuring the confidentiality, protection, and accuracy of your personal data. It is your responsibility to ensure that all data submitted to us is accurate, complete, and updated. Lockton Sime and its employees shall not be held responsible for any data submitted that is inaccurate or incomplete.

6. Existing Customers and Third-Party Data

If you provide us with the personal data of third parties, we request your assistance in obtaining their consent. For existing customers, we will continue to process your personal data in accordance with this policy unless we receive written notification to the contrary.

7. Access and Correction Rights

You may, at any time, submit a request to access or correct your personal data, or withdraw your consent for us to retain it. Please note that withdrawing consent may affect our ability to perform our obligations to you.All requests should be directed to:

8. Direct Marketing

We may process your data for direct marketing. If you wish to change your preferences or opt out, please notify us. If we do not receive a response, we will assume you do not wish to receive marketing materials and will cease such communications.

9. Retention and Disposal

Any personal data no longer required for the stated Purposes will be destroyed or deleted from our records and systems in accordance with our internal retention policy.

10. Revisions

This PDPA Notice may be revised from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our website or communicated via other suitable channels in compliance with the Act.
