Lockton Unveils Vision for World-Class Global Headquarters

Lockton, the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance brokerage, today announced plans for a new, state-of-the-art global headquarters in Leawood, Kansas—a transformative move that supports the firm’s next chapter of growth and reinforces sustained investment in its Associates, clients, and the community.

The company’s continued growth is a testament to the dedication of the firm’s Associates, whose relentless client focus has fueled expansion across the region and around the world. Lockton serves more than 65,000 clients and operates more than 150 offices across 43 countries, with recent expansion into Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and India.

A Regional Home Built for a Global Workforce

The new headquarters, scheduled to open in 2030, will be part of a new development located in a thriving corridor known for financial services and global headquarters. The centerpiece of the 34-acre development, led by developer VanTrust Real Estate, will be Lockton’s 12-story, 444,000 square-foot office building. Future phased expansion includes an additional eight-story, 258,000 square-feet building.

The development site aligns with Lockton’s vision of building a workplace that balances connectivity, culture, and convenience. With a vibrant atmosphere, state-of-the-art features, an accessible location, and proximity to dining and entertainment, the new headquarters will advance Lockton’s continued success in attracting and retaining top-tier talent from around the globe.

A Hometown Company Investing in the Community

Lockton has been a pillar of the Kansas City business community since 1966 when the firm’s founder, Jack Lockton, opened the first office in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, the headquarters office has relocated five times to accommodate a growing workforce and the evolving needs of the business. In 2000, Lockton relocated to its current headquarters in Kansas City’s renowned Country Club Plaza shopping and dining district, where the firm’s 1,500 local Associates occupy a 10-story office building.

Driving Regional Progress

The City of Leawood is a vibrant area located just west of the Kansas-Missouri state line, featuring the Kansas City metro’s strongest retail district along with desirable housing, strong public and private schools, and new office development. This new headquarters will bring Lockton as a major employer, a hotel, two multifamily buildings, a childcare center, and retail/restaurant space. This location offers easy access to major thoroughfares and will feature integrated trail connections linking the new development to Leawood City Park and a greenway system extending far into other parts of metro Kansas City.

The project is expected to begin in 2026, with Lockton projected to move in early 2030.
